One of the main reasons people get married on the beach is so they can exchange vows in a beautiful setting that is also relaxed and comfortable.
Beachside weddings range from beautiful and simple ceremonies to elegant black-tie affairs.
But like all weddings, it requires planning.
Here we give you some information that can help you with your beach wedding.
Eight Tips for Choosing Beach Wedding Dresses
1) Many bridal stores and online retailers carry gowns that are specifically designed as beach wedding dresses. These simple, yet elegant dresses are light and airy and will hold up in humidity while helping you stay cool.

3) Don’t worry about going too simple: casual beach wedding dresses can also be chic! Layers can be hot, so look for a style that hugs your body and keeps your dress from blowing around too much if the day happens to be breezy. Also, steer away from a mermaid-style dress that hugs your legs and look for one that allows you to walk easily across the sand to meet your groom.
4) Summer beach wedding dresses come in strapless or halter styles that leave your shoulders bare. Other styles feature one-shoulder dresses, a knee-length hemline, or a sweetheart neckline to keep you comfortable in the summer heat.
5) Destination beach wedding dresses need to travel well! They should be made of lightweight material like chiffon or silk, and be in a simple style that doesn’t require a lot of ironing or touchup when you reach your wedding location. TIP: Hand-carry your dress on the airplane – you can hang it up in the plane and won’t have to worry about it if your luggage goes astray!
6) Consider bringing a wrap if you choose strapless or spaghetti-strap beach wedding dresses for an evening wedding. It’s not unusual for the temperature to drop a little at sunset and an elegant wrap will keep you comfortable.
7) White wedding gowns are still the most popular, but beach wedding dresses can also be stunning in other colors. The one that we really remember was the bride who wore a beautiful red dress and a bridal veil to match. It really looked great against our white sand and the photos were amazing! We actually put her photo on our website.
8) Veils aren’t practical for a beach wedding because the breezes can cause problems with them. It won’t be very romantic if you are trying to keep your veil from flying away while trying to say your vows! Go for a tiara, clip flowers into your hair or wear a wreath of flowers, wear a rhinestone barrette, or sprinkle rhinestone pins throughout a casual, wind-tolerant hairstyle or updo (use extra hairspray and pins for an updo!).
9) Forget the stilettos! It’s not easy (or graceful) to walk across the sand in heels. Go casual with bridal-style flip flops, strappy low-heeled sandals, espadrilles, or ballet flats. Even though it is tempting to go barefoot, keep in mind that the sand can be hot, so opt for casual shoes that will protect your feet and will hold up both in water and on sand.
